Alongside the work on the Accounts of the Conflict project, a seminar series is being arranged where contributors are providing presentations detailing their experiences of archiving and presenting stories relating to conflict. All the seminars to date have been recorded on video and are available to view here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The series began on 17 October 2013 when Roberta Bacic, curator of \u2018The Art of Survival: International and Irish Quilts\u2019, and a member of the Local Advisory Group to the Accounts of the Conflict project, gave a talk entitled \u2018Textile Stories on Conflict\u2019.<\/p>\n

The series then resumed early in 2014 with the first of a number of visits to Northern Ireland by International Advisers to the Accounts of the Conflict project. In Belfast on 14 January Elisabeth Baumgartner, currently head of swisspeace\u2019s Dealing with the Past programme, presented on \u2018The Role of Archives in Dealing with the Past\u2019.<\/p>\n

Then in Derry\/Londonderry on 5 February Iratxe Momoitio Astorika, Director of the Gernika Peace Museum, gave a seminar entitled \u2018How to deal with our recent past by making important materials or sources available online\u2019? This was then followed on 19 March in Belfast with a presentation by Verne Harris, Director of Research and Archives at the Nelson Mandela Foundation, with an address entitled \u2018Remembering, Forgetting and South Africa\u2019.<\/p>\n

The series will conclude with two further seminars. On 16 April at PRONI Liz Silkes, Executive Director of International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, will give a talk entitled \u2018Archive Development and Civic Engagement at Sites of Conscience\u2019. Then on 19 June Ramsay Liem, Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Visiting Scholar at the Center for Human Rights and International Justice at Boston College, will present on \u2018The Art of Remembering: Evoking Memories and Legacies of the Korean War\u2019. Details on this seminar have still to be confirmed but they will be made available at a later date at: https:\/\/accounts.ulster.ac.uk\/accounts\/seminars\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
