"The interviewee who wishes to remain anonymous was interviewed at his home in Derry Londonderry in April 1997. From the age of thirteen he has been the victim of paramilitary punishment beatings. Over the years he has sustained injuries to almost every one of his limbs and joints and his education and prospects for the future have been damaged." Smyth and Fay (eds) (2000; p.123).
