Story Abstract
Text from any publicly available abstract which describes the story.
'Bert Henshaw served six emergency tours of Northern Ireland in 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974/75 and 1977. All of Bert's tours, with the exception of the 1974/75 one, which was based in South Armagh, were based in Belfast. During his career with the First Battalion of the Royal Green Jackets, Bert rose through the ranks from rifleman to corporal. An avid collector of memorabilia of the troubles and co-author of a book on the army in Northern Ireland, Bert holds the copyright to many of the photographs used in this book. Compiled from a tape recorded interview, 5 July 1998.' (from page 13 in the book)
