Abstract |
"In September 2012 ‘Border Roads to Memories and Reconciliation’ set out to provide an opportunity and space for residents along both sides of the border to remember and express their feelings in relation to the closure of border roads and the impact that it had on their lives. During the course of the project, we have digitally recorded the feelings of segregation and marginalisation that border residents experienced, and linked these accounts with recovered photographs taken at the time of the road closures and newspaper articles that covered the events. This material will be available on our new interactive map and website – www.borderroadmemories.com" (from Border Roads website). |

Description |
The Border Roads to Memories and Reconciliation project compiled a collection of stories related to life on either side of the border when many of the unapproved border roads were closed during the conflict. The intention was to all people to "express their feelings in relation to the the closure of border roads and the impact it had on their lives" (from the project flyer). (The stories have been deposited with Accounts of the Conflict but they have a 'delayed access' date. However, the stories are available to view at the Border Roads website.) |
